Hands-on training at the FM simzone
Loss prevention practiced here
The SimZone is a warehouse-sized, state-of-the-art training facility and the cornerstone of FM’s Norwood campus. All FM engineers—and select clients—train at the SimZone and build on their expertise at inspecting facilities, assessing exposures, and helping our clients take active steps to reduce their risk. This unique training ensures that the FM engineer who comes to your facility carries the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to identify and manage risk. This training also grounds FM’s underwriting and claims process in a rigorous engineering-based approach.
Twelve labs and learning areas (everything from an electrical lab to a steam and industrial heating lab) simulate property hazards, with hands-on training. Common hazards such as fire, ignitable liquid, construction, equipment malfunction and electrical breakdown can each be simulated in a protected environment.
FM is the only commercial property insurance company with this level of hands-on property loss prevention training. In fact, the SimZone isn't just the best of its kind. It's the only one of its kind.
