Omar Hameed

Omar oversees the organization’s law and governmental affairs and is based in Johnston, Rhode Island, USA. Omar will replace Jonathan Mishara, who will retire on Dec. 31, 2024.

Since joining the company in 2007, Omar has served as assistant general counsel corporate affairs – international legal, in our U.K. office, where he was responsible for advising our operations across EMEA and Asia-Pacific. In 2014, he moved to the U.S. to assume the role of staff senior vice president, assistant general counsel – corporate affairs, in Johnston, R.I., USA. In addition to building the capacity of the legal function in the corporate offices, the legal team is now established in several offices around the world, including Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Prior to joining FM, Omar worked for the Association of British Insurers (U.K. trade association), Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (law firm), UBS Warburg, Centrica Plc, and XL Re.

Omar holds a master’s degree in finance from the Chartered Institute of Insurance, and a degree in law from the University of Manchester.
