James P. O’Brien

James P. O’Brien is senior vice president, Canada and specialty industries division manager, at FM.

O’Brien is based out of FM’s Park Ridge, Illinois, USA, office and is responsible for the management, leadership and direction of insurance and engineering operations.

Prior to his current appointment, O’Brien held a number of senior roles, including senior vice president, Central division manager; vice president, operations manager, Chicago operations; and vice president, division underwriting manager for the Central division. He also served in various roles in account management, sales and engineering. He joined the company in 1989 as a consultant engineer.

O’Brien holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, USA. He also holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations from the American Institute for Chartered Property Underwriters and the Insurance Institute of America, Malvern, Pennsylvania, USA.
